Cervical fluid is one of the most underrated signals in cycle awareness. It changes in texture and amount across the month, quietly reflecting where you are in your cycle.
Why cervical fluid changes
Estrogen and progesterone influence the type of fluid your cervix produces. As estrogen rises before ovulation, fluid becomes more abundant, clearer and more elastic — designed to support sperm survival.
A simple pattern to notice
- After your period: often dry or minimal fluid
- Approaching ovulation: creamier, then wetter and more slippery
- Around ovulation: clear, stretchy, similar to raw egg white
- After ovulation: fluid becomes thicker, drier or returns to minimal
"Your body speaks in soft signals. Cervical fluid is one of them."
Combining signals
Cervical fluid pairs naturally with basal body temperature tracking. Together, they give a fuller picture: fluid hints that ovulation is approaching, and temperature confirms that it has happened.
When something feels off
If you notice unusual colour, strong odour, itching or discomfort, this is not the same as normal cervical fluid changes — please reach out to a healthcare professional for advice.
If anything in your body feels off, please speak with your doctor. The Daysy Journal is educational and is not medical advice.
